Stephen J Shanabrook

Stephen J Shanabrook takes images of portraits from magazines and defaces them by folding them , occasionally using staples to fix the folds in place. This results in a distorted image that obscures the identity of that person.
Using Stephen Shanabrook's technique, I recreated my own inspired folded image using a photograph that I had taken of the Swiss cottage at Osborne House. I don't think this experiment works well with my chosen theme as the lines of the folds do not match up with different areas of the photograph to give it an abstract appearance. I think this would work particularly well with portraits as the folds could result in giving the person a distorted face which would alter their identity.
